What is a serious injury?
There are numerous definitions of what results in a serious injury. A common definition is “an injury that will likely result in mortality”. However at Express Solicitors, we believe that every injury affects every individual differently and a serious injury is one that has a serious impact upon the activities of your daily living.
For example, whiplash is not generally considered to be a serious injury. Yet, if the victim was for example a ballet dancer a whiplash injury could possible put an end to their career. Injuries which may not on the face of it appear serious often can be life changing.
At the other end of spectrum are injuries of maximum severity such as brain injuries, amputations and paralysis which severely impact an individual’s life.
It must also be remembered that there is usually always more than one victim when somebody becomes seriously injured. A serious injury does not just affect the individual but also affects their friends and families whilst changing the dynamics in their relationship making the injured individual more dependent on others for care and assistance, emotional support, and activities requiring physical effort.
Where the ability to work is challenged we are experienced in implementing a multi-disciplinary legal, financial & medical team to assess, quantify and analyse your loss to ensure that we obtain the best possible settlement for you.
